Diagonal pumps combine the benefits of axial flow and radial pumps, designed for pumping incompressible fluids at medium volume flows and delivery heads. Ideal for applications requiring compact design, versatile installation, and efficient energy transmission.
Diagonal pumps are centrifugal pumps engineered to pump incompressible fluids at medium volume flows and delivery heads. They merge the advantages of axial flow pumps (high flow capability) and radial pumps (higher delivery head) to deliver optimal performance.
In diagonal pumps, the fluid is pumped at an angle (diagonal) to the pump shaft. The pumping process begins as fluid enters the suction nozzle and moves into the rotating impeller due to an energy gradient. The impeller’s vanes, attached to the shaft driven by a motor, increase the fluid’s angular momentum, raising both pressure and velocity.
A guide mechanism can then convert kinetic energy into additional static pressure. To maintain flow, an energy gradient must be present at both inlet and outlet. Losses from friction or leakage require increased pump power to sustain performance.
Diagonal pumps offer versatile installation options based on their intended application. They can feature horizontal or vertical shafts, various connection positions, and either coupling or direct motor assembly (block design). Despite these variations, their hydraulic performance remains nearly unchanged.
Key Technical Features:
Compact design for tight installation spaces
Direct drive without gearbox (higher efficiency and lower maintenance)
Suitable for dry installation, immersed, or submerged operation
Can be fitted with various sealing systems, including hermetic magnetic coupling
High adaptability to different installation orientations and connection types
Typical Applications:
Vertical drill holes
Multistage process pumps
Condensate pumps
Industrial operations where small outer pump diameter is required
Usage Instructions:
Ensure correct alignment during installation
Select the appropriate sealing system for the fluid being pumped
Follow manufacturer’s operational limits for flow, head, and temperature
Conduct periodic inspections to prevent performance loss from wear or leakage
