NALFLEET™ Engine Water Treatment 9-108 is a high-performance corrosion inhibitor formulated to meet the stringent requirements of modern high-efficiency diesel engines. It provides robust protection against corrosion and scale formation in closed-loop cooling systems, ensuring optimal engine performance and longevity.
Key Features
High Nitrite Content: Specifically designed to deliver a high nitrite reserve, which is increasingly required by new-generation diesel engines.
Dispersant Additive: Contains a dispersant to maintain cleaner and more efficient cooling systems.
Compatibility: Safe for use with hoses, gaskets, seals, and glycols for frost protection.
Non-Abrasive: Does not adversely affect gaskets or hoses.
Specifications
Appearance: Light yellow liquid
Density: 1.3 g/ml
pH: 13.2 – 14.0
IMO/EU Classification: C-7
Approvals
Approved by major diesel engine manufacturers.
Approved by the UK Department of Transport for use in diesel cooling systems where heat from the cooling water is used for distilling seawater for domestic purposes in evaporators on board.
Gold approval by CEFAS for use in the UK and Netherlands offshore petroleum industries.
Usage Guidelines
Initial Dosage: Add 2.25 liters of NALFLEET™ Engine Water Treatment 9-108 per cubic meter (m³) of cooling water to achieve a nitrite concentration of approximately 1,000 ppm.
Maintenance Dosage: Maintain a nitrite concentration between 670 and 1,000 ppm.
Testing: Regularly test nitrite levels using the Motor Ship Test Kit 777066 to ensure proper treatment levels.
System Preparation
Flushing: Before application, flush the cooling system to remove all sludge and particulate matter.
Cleaning: If necessary, clean the system with an oil remover, such as UNITOR™ Commissioning Cleaner 624932, to remove oil and grease deposits.
Dosing: Directly dose NALFLEET™ Engine Water Treatment 9-108 into the cooling system.
Safety and Handling
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE, including gloves and eye protection, during handling.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from incompatible materials.
Handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
